POS stands for Point of Sale system POS is a constellation of things that together enable you to process your sales efficiently and help to streamline business processes. Which can be used for managing sales, generating invoices for cash/credit sales and tracking how and which products are sold and in what quantities.

Point of Sale systems help to simplify the accounting, manage inventory, provide faster service and help in to cut down the user errors.

Key components of a POS system

The POS setup depends on the technology which includes hardware and software such as, payment machine, receipts print machine, POS and the inventory software.

1. Software: Every POS system comprises software with a user-friendly interface, which interconnects all the hardware to record and process all the entries. POS software can be installed locally or in a cloud.

2. Hardware: Hardware plays an important part in processing POS transactions let’s look at some of the important hardware components.

Transaction Register: Touchscreen PC monitor or Portable Tab with a POS software.
Cash drawer: It used to store cash and coins along with receipts and slips relevant to accounting. It provides security and organizes your POS system.

Receipt printer: Receipt printers are also an important part of a POS to print card slips and sales receipts for customers.

Barcode scanner: It is also called a price scanner or POS scanner, linked with the POS inventory system and it automatically updates inventory details according to items sold.

Card machine: It is connected with the POS system and helps to collect payments made by Cards, Mobile Wallet, Apps, etc.

POS systems can be used in different types of business like; Restaurant, Cafes, Retail Shops, etc.
